Halloween, Pumpkins and LBP

So its Halloween time again. Can' believe its been a year since we all went to DCA for the halloween party. Well another halloween is apon us and Jen and I made a new pumpkin carving. We made our Jack-O-Lantern on monday and it turned out great.
This past weekend was Amy's and Cristin's b-day. We all had a good time with some korean bbq and poonopoly. Hope you liked it cris. I'd like to think poonopoly is one of the greatest games ever.
School has been going well and I cant wait to post up some stuff ive been doing. My Independent project is coming along well, although we just realized that we need to finish the project for school in 4 weeks, so.. ouch. Got alot to do for that. All my other classes are great and having fun. I'm actually enjoying history, its interesting.

LittleBigPlanet Has been a game I've been waiting for for a long time. If you haven't seen anything about it, google it, it's awesome. This guy was made from one of the creators mothers.(Sack Boys Fo Real) This is so freakin' awesome, I wish I had one, or the knowledge to create one. The game was supposed to come out last week but was unfortunately delayed. I will be picking up my copy of the game friday though, and will probably be playing this all weekend. Thats it for now. I know I've always said I want to post more, and ill say it again, i will try.

Sitting in class...

and bored. It kind of sucks taking a course that you have taken before and having to sit through the pointless lectures. Not to say that the class is pointless or the teacher is bad, but being that I know 99.9% of the material, I wish i could move on. Making the switch from one major to another really messes up the courses you've taken. Oh well... I'm happy with my decision and I guess I'll just get an easy A. But still, what a drag.

Filming

Going to a school in Burbank is great. We're so close to all  the movie studios that it makes our campus a great filmimng location. Today one of my favorite shows came to town, The Office. It was so cool seeing them film here, even though it's probably going to be a 40 sec clip in the show, it's still exciting. I wanted to take a picture, but they yelled at me, so i had to put my camera away. :(  It's always fun seeing celebs in real life. I mean they are normal people, but something about the fact they're on tv, makes it so much better. Today i saw John Krasinski (Jim) and Jenna Fisher (Pam), although I just missed Steve Carell (Michael). All in all, it was a fun day.

School, Sweet, School

So it's been about 3 weeks now that i have officially started graphic design at school. I've got to say that it's been fun. I like how fast the projects move, it's not like we work on one project for 5-6 weeks, its about 1 1/2 weeks per project now, and i like that pace. Currently I'm taking a typography course which has been fun. Color theory also has a quality to it that i appreciate, nice easy going projects. Graphic Design 1 is probably the most fun out of all of 'em all. The professor teaches it using all hand techniques, which produce great results, the kind of stuff that would take hours to make in photoshop.
The big draw this semester is a project that I'm doing with a good friend. This project would be huge for both me and my partner. It's actually a competition, but we were able to make it an independent study course for ourselves. More on the project to come.
For now I guess I'll be keeping steady, trying not to fall behind, and making sure i have time for myself and loved ones. We dont want a repeat of the architecture takeover (although i still dont have anything against it, i love it too).

Crazy 4 Cult 2!!!

I Know this is late, but hey, i just got time to post it. So here it is.. Last friday i went to a gallery opening in west la. It was for Crazy 4 Cult 2 at Gallery1988. It was a really fun show. All the artwork was dome by artist interpreting their favorite cult classics. I love alot of the movies that were shocased in the work, but i have to say that the peice called "The Hit List" and "Buffer Overflow" weremy show favorites. I took a bunch of pictures so if you want to check them out, i have them on my flickr.

Friends

I love hanging out with friends. There are people you're cool with, and then there are friends. People that you feel comfortable with, people you don't mind hanging out with for a whole day and still do absolutely nothing. Celebrating Ice Cream Cake day, and National S'more day (next yr), and all other real and made up holidays. Going to (Angels) Baseball games, and staying for extra innings when others leave. Friends are what keeps my sanity after running my brain dead with architecture and graphic design. I feel lucky that i have such good ones, and although a small group, they're always there and always fun. To you all, Thank You.

ROCK THE BELLS!!!

So I went to Rock The Bells this sat. My brother got me tickets for my birthday. It was one of the best shows I've been to lately. Nas, Mos Def, The Pharcyde, A Tribe Called Quest, everyone was great. Although it was hot, the show was awesome. Taking a break from the main stage, we went off to see the Cool Kidz, Tyga, and the Kids in the Hall. All in all it was a good time. Now its off to see Ozomatli at the Hollywood Bowl.

3d Modeling - BLENDER

i know i havent posted in a long time, but im now getting started on some interesting things.

so.. ive been playing around with an open source program called Blender. Its actually pretty powerful. Although there is a bit of a learning curve, thats because it dosen't look like any of the other programs ive used (3dmax, rhino, cad, sketchup), but so far its been real fun. im looking forward to posting some of my renders once i get the program worked out. If you wanna try it out go get it, its free. www.blender.org also check out some of the cool things people have done with the program.

Spring....

This means BASEBALL!!!! I love this game. So many memories as a kid going to games. Hot Dogs, Crakerjacks, peanuts, and now, in my adult days, BEER!!! Going to the ball park is so much fun. The game has the power to go from drab and slow, to uber exciting in just 1 pitch. I've gotten to go to my first game of the season, and although my team lost, I still had a blast. Go ANGELS!!!

Photography

I've been taking pictures with my Nikon D40 for about a year now. I would still consider myself a beginning amateur. But, I guess I just haven't spent the time to take the pictures I want. I've taken some ok pictures, but none that i really have gone.. wow, thats good. And then, one fateful morning, before i left to work - eureka!!! I got a picture that I'm truly proud of. I think that there might be more in the works for me. And now that I have the time to learn more, I think I might be able to come up with more quality shots. So heres my first picture I'm truly proud of. And believe me, this is the first of many to come. :)

Pin Ups and Illustrator

So... seeing as I have some free time on my hands, i think I'm gunna take a crack at using Illustrator more. My cousin is a pretty good artist, although her artistic efforts are cut short by her parents. She has recently been doing some Pin up girl art. It looks pretty darn good if you ask me. I think that if she went on to maybe digitize the sketches she might be able to get more out of it. So... I'm taking a shot at making her pieces of art, into really nice, editable line art. If there are any suggestions, feel free to leave a comment, i could use the help. I'll be posting up some before and after images soon.

First Post

So.... this is officially my first post on my blog. Any blog really. Some Background on why i wanted to start this is....

I have been an Architecture student for 3 yrs now at Woodbury University. But i have recently come to realize that the direction that architecture was going in wasn't what i really had in mind. So.. i switched majors and am now a Graphic Design major. I know I have to start from the begging but I believe it's going to be worth it in the end.

I'm going to post up things from my new career path as well as my previous one. Architecture, Graphic Design and my hobby, photography. I'm hoping that this blog will be a catalyst for ideas, a place where i can post and get feed back. Also, this would be kinda therapeutic. So if your a reader of my blog from now on or not, welcome and i hope you liked something you will see.
